Soča River - heart of Triglav National Park
Tucked beneath the emerald-green spring of the Soča River, in the heart of Triglav National Park, Koča pri izviru Soče offers a peaceful alpine retreat surrounded by towering peaks, pristine meadows, and the soothing sounds of nature. Following a complete renovation in 2022–2023, the hut now welcomes visitors from May to October, serving as a beloved base for mountain explorers, families, and travelers in search of authentic Slovenian nature.
Originally opened in 1953, the hut preserves the spirit of traditional mountaineering culture while embracing sustainability and hospitality. Its kitchen celebrates local culinary heritage, serving homemade dishes such as Soča trout, stews, dumplings, and the region’s iconic apple strudel and jota. Meals are enjoyed in a warm communal setting, often accompanied by breathtaking views of the Julian Alps and the gentle murmur of the river’s first waters.
Whether you come to
hike panoramic ridges, enjoy quiet forest paths, or simply disconnect from the world, the hut is a sanctuary where nature, tradition, and comfort meet.
