HIKING

From Hotel Oskar Zaplata you can enjoy an unforgettable view of the majestic peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, including Storžič and Zaplata. To the west, you can admire the Julian Alps with Slovenia's highest peak, Triglav. The natural heritage, with numerous hills adorned with churches, Lake Črnava, the Kokra River and the warm hospitality of the locals, all contribute to the beauty of this place.

They vary from the simplest recreational walks to serious mountain trails.

St. Jakob (961 m) is a popular elevation above Preddvor, cherished by hikers. The hill got its name from the 15th-century church of the same name standing at its summit. At the top, you'll find two mountain huts with panoramic views offering refreshments.

Other highly recommended and beautiful hikes are to the hill-tops like Goli vrh (1787 m) and Kozji vrh (1628 m) for morning hike. Enthusiasts will find Virnikov Grintovec (1654 m), Štegovnik (1692 m) and Storžič (2132 m) a very nice challenge.

SKIING, ICE SKATING AND SLEDDING

Krvavec:

The Krvavec ski resort, situated on the outskirts of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, is also known as "The Best Ski Resort in Slovenia." Krvavec is located within the municipality of Cerklje na Gorenjskem and is just under 12 kilometers away from Hotel Oskar Zaplata. It provides a perfect retreat into nature, both in the idyllic winter season and during the summer months.

Zgornje Jezersko:

Cross-country skiing has a long tradition in Jezersko, as the locals have been practicing and organizing skiing competitions long before alpine skiing became popular. Anyone can glide across all the meadows in the flat area of Upper Jezersko, from Planšarsko Lake to the end of the valley. Fifteen kilometers of carefully maintained trails in the Ravenska Kočna valley have convinced and delighted many cross-country skiing enthusiasts in recent years.

Sledding is one of the most popular winter activities, boasting an 18-year tradition in Jezersko, where there is a sledding track near Planšarsko Lake, measuring 740 meters in length. The uniqueness of this track lies in its capability for artificial snowmaking and grooming with a trail groomer, ensuring the highest quality and safety.

Ice skating on frozen lake is an amazing experience. Nestled near the picturesque Planšarsko Lake, a beautifully groomed ice rink awaits, spanning a generous 2000 m2.

CYCLING

The Jezerska cycling route takes you through the magnificent views of our beautiful valley, with glimpses of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps unfolding along the way. As you ride, panoramic views extend to the Karawanks and even the Julian Alps. The Jezerska cycling route is part of the Karavanke cycling loops. Total length of all routes: 61.5 km. You can choose from more that 5 different routs, depending on the lenght you want to cycle.
